In 1928, the GPO closed their sub-post office on the island. The Island owner, Martin
Harman initially provide a free mail service, but on 1 November 1929, to defray costs, he introduced Lundy

1994 750th Anniversary of Marisco Castle
In 1238, William de Marisco was put to death after being implicated in a plot against
Henry III. In order to secure Lundy, Henry III had the castle constructed and garrisoned. It was
completed by May 1244. |
