Papua & New Guinea - Papua New Guinea
1949 ..... Papua and New Guinea created by the amalgamation of the Territories of "Papua" and of "New Guinea"
1949 ..... Australian stamps remain in use until 1952.
1952 ..... The first stamps inscribed "Papua and New Guinea" released.
1966 ..... Decimal currency introduced.
1973 ..... Papua New Guinea becomes self-governing.
1975 ..... A new currency adopted on 21 April 1975 (100 toea = 1 kina = approximately 1 dollar).
1975 ..... Papua New Guinea becomes a fully independent Country on 16 September 1975
