NORTH GERMAN CONFEDERATION  1868 - 1872
In 1867 the Independent States of Northern Germany combined to form the North German Confederation.
Between 1868 and 1872, Five different Stamp Designs were Issued.
In 1870 Bavaria, Wurttemberg, & Baden joined to form the German Empire (Deutsches Reich).
In 1872, Stamps of the North German Confederation were replaced by those of the German Empire.
Currency
Northern: 30 Groschen (g.) = 1 Thaler (T.)
Southern:  60 Kreuzer (k.) = 1 Gulden (G.)
Hamburg:  16 Schilling (s.) = 1 Mark (M.)
